How did this site development come about?
A previous Borehamwood and Elstree synagogue board Chairman, Stephen Forman, recognised the need to reassess the shul site and facilities to meet the need of an ever-growing community. He requested that a sub committee of expert property professionals be set up to examine the options.
Why wasn't the shul built to accommodate the growing community initially?
When the shul was initially built, it was constructed to house the community at the time taking into account the then expected growth but since that time the community's growth has far exceeded expectations.
Isn't this a kneejerk reaction (size and scale)?
No. It is a responsible action given the situation we find ourselves in
When did we realise that the site we're now using isn't viable?
It is apparent to anyone who visits or used the site
